The Eid holidays will begin on June 28 and end on July 1. As July 2 falls on a Sunday, government employees will enjoy a total of five holidays on Eid-ul-Adha. Earlier, the government has announced a three-day Eid holiday from June 29 (Thursday) to July 1 (Saturday).

The announcement was made by the Sighting of the Crescent Committee on July 19 before the sighting of the moon. Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said that the first day of Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 29 across Pakistan.

Testimonies of sighting of Zul-Hajj moon were received from many areas including Islamabad, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Khanpur, Ghotki, Karachi, Bahawalnagar and Peshawar. So it was unanimously decided that the first Dhul-Hil will be on 20th June 2023 and Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on 29th June 2023.

As Eid al-Adha marks the end of Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, and must be performed by every Muslim who can afford it.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has announced the sighting of the Dhul-Hajj moon on Sunday, marking the start of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijj on Monday, June 19, and setting the stage for the celebration of Eid al-Adha on Wednesday, June 28.

The Saudi Arabia, UAE and many other Gulf countries usually celebrate Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha together.

If Eid ul Adha 2023 falls on Thursday, June 29, Wednesday will be a holiday for Hajj. Thus the 3 holidays of Eid will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Due to Sunday being a holiday, the total number of holidays will be 5.

If Eid-ul-Adha falls on Friday, June 30, Thursday will be a holiday for Hajj. Thus, 3 holidays of Eid will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If Eid falls on a Friday, the total number of holidays will be 4, including the Hajj holiday.

In this regard, the Government of Pakistan has shared a notification about Eid-ul-Azha Holidays 2023 in Pakistan. Finance Department has also announced the notification of advance distribution of June salary on 25th June 2023 as Eid-ul-Azha Holidays 2023 is starting from 28-06-2023.
