Electric Scooty battery exploded during Charging at GC University

A fire broke out in the parking area of ​​Government College Women University, Faisalabad, after an electric scooty’s battery exploded while charging; the incident resulted in the destruction of a parked university bus and seven other electric scooters.

Rescue 1122 teams quickly brought the fire under control, and there were no casualties or injuries in the incident. The university’s fire safety system alerted the security staff, who evacuated the area before the rescue teams arrived.

This incident has raised concerns regarding the safety of charging electric scooters on university campuses, particularly concerning the presence of charging points near parked vehicles and other flammable materials.

This incident has occurred at a time when Punjab is expanding infrastructure for electric vehicles in educational institutions. The province is working on establishing charging facilities at colleges, and as the use of electric vehicles grows, the importance of adequate charging arrangements and fire safety measures is also increasing.
