The Punjab government has launched the Interest-Free E-Taxi Scheme 2025 with 5-year easy installments, one of the most ambitious public transport initiatives in the country’s history.

These electric taxis are available on easy, interest-free installments, aiming to make clean transportation affordable while providing a reliable way for young and unemployed people to earn.

Punjab e taxi scheme 2025 eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a permanent resident of Punjab.
  • Minimum age 21 years and maximum 60 years
  • Must hold a valid driving license.
  • Must not be a defaulter of any bank.
  • Both men and women are eligible to apply.

Installments and price

  • The estimated cost of the electric taxi is Rs. 6.5 million (65 lakh).
  • Down Payment (30%): Approx. Rs. 18-20 lakhs, advance payment.
  • Remaining balance (70%): Approx. Rs 45-47 lakhs, financed through banks.
  • Monthly installment: Approximately Rs. 60,000.
  • Interest charges: None, as the government covers them.
  • Special case: Punjab government offers 30% subsidy to selected candidates

Fees announced for issuing new Driving License in UAE 2025

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new fees related to the issuance of new driving license and learning permits.

According to Arab media, the fee for learning permits for motorcycles, light vehicles and light automatic vehicles has been set at 100 dirhams. The fee for light and heavy buses, mechanical machinery and heavy vehicles will be 200 dirhams.

The traffic department charges Dh200 for opening a file, Dh50 for a safe driving guide, and a minimum fee of Dh140 and a maximum of Dh180 for an eye test. In addition, each applicant must also pay a Dh20 innovation and knowledge fee.

UAE introduces new, easier way to obtain work permit 2025

For the issuance of a driving license, a fee of 100 dirhams will be charged from those under the age of 21, while a fee of 300 dirhams will be charged from those 21 years of age and older, including a 20 dirhams innovation fee.

The Roads Transport Authority says that if an applicant wants to change the category of their driving license from manual to automatic or from automatic to manual, they will have to pay an additional fee of 200 dirhams and 20 dirhams in innovation charges.

Fitness certificate made mandatory for motorcycles in Punjab

According to Radio Pakistan, the Punjab government has made fitness certificates mandatory for motorcycles across the province to reduce the risk of accidents.

A law has been amended to allow the issuance of a one-year fitness certificate after a motorcycle test. The Punjab government has already imposed a speed limit of 60 mph for motorcycles across the province.

The Department of Transport has encouraged the public to obtain a certificate after inspecting the fitness of their motorcycles.

Suzuki 110 and 150 motorcycle prices hiked in Pakistan – Oct 24

Pak Suzuki Motors has announced a significant increase in the prices of GD 110 and GS 150 motorcycles in Pakistan from 15 October 2024.

The Suzuki GD 110 motorcycle will now be priced at PKR 359,000, reflecting an increase of PKR 7,000 from its previous price of Rs 352,000. Similarly, the Suzuki GS 150 bike will see a price hike of Rs 7,000, taking its new price from Rs 382,000 to Rs 389,000.

The price increase includes the factory price of the motorcycles and freight charges at dealerships.

The price hike will be applicable from October 15, 2024, a letter issued by the company informed dealers and showroom owners.

Chief Traffic Officer Punjab Amara Athar said that there is no need to wait for a motorcycle license after the learner permit. For a limited time, the 42-day learner period is now discontinued. Now citizens with a learner permit can take the test and get a motorcycle driving license.

CTO Amara Athar said that the purpose of providing this facility is to save the precious time of the citizens and obey the law. He said that there is a fine of Rs 2,000 for driving without a license.
