According to Saudi Yoga Committee President Nouf Al Marwaai, several agreements will be signed with major universities in Saudi Arabia to support and promote yoga in the next few months.
According to the Arab News, During her participation in the fourth session titled “Development and Promotion of New Sports in Universities”, Al-Marwaai explained that the committee has introduced yoga in universities emphasizing the importance of practicing it for health and fitness. “Yoga provides its practitioners with many health benefits (for physical and mental well-being),” she said, adding that participation in sports activities is one of the most important pillars of achieving Vision 2030. She added that the objective of the committee “is to discover the talents of eminent yoga practitioners in all forms of yoga or Yogasana sports in general, to hone their skills, and to select them to represent and participate in the kingdom in local and international tournaments.”
The announcement was made recently during a forum titled ‘The Role of University Sports in Supporting the Kingdom’s Vision in Sports’ organized by the Saudi Universities Sports Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Riyadh.
According to Arab News, a number of university sports experts and international leaders, led by International Universities Sports Federation President Lyons Eder and International University Sports Federation Director General Paulo Ferreira, attended the event.
