History of Baisakhi Festival

It was also Baisakhi Day when General Reginald Dyer, an official of the British colonial empire, opened fire on the assembled Indians at Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab. It was a major event that sparked a major surge in the fight against British rule in India.
