Shab E Meraj History

The Night Journey, also known as Shab e Meraj, Isra, and Mi’raj or al-Israa wal Mi’raj, is celebrated on the 27th day of the month of Rajab (the seventh month of the Islamic calendar). The literal translation of Shab Miraj is Night of Ascension.

This event is celebrated on the night when the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W) ascended to Heaven from Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah. One of the great gifts of that night was that Faraz Salah (obligatory prayer) was established on Muslims. Like other events and occasions of our Prophet’s blessed life, the night journey is a rich source of inspiration and lessons for all humanity.

Shab E Meraj Full Story

This miraculous journey of ascension took place in two parts. First, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) traveled from Makkah (Kaaba) to Jerusalem (Masjid al-Aqsa) and then ascended to heaven by the order of Allah.

The night began with the presence of the chief of all angels Gabriel (A.S) in the presence of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W). He then took Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) from Masjid al-Haram (Kaaba) to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. This part of the Prophet’s journey is described in the Holy Qur’an:

“Glory be to Him who took His servant by night from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, in the vicinity of which We have placed blessings, to show him Our signs. Indeed, He is Hearer, Seer.” (Surat al-Israa 1:17)

The mode of transportation used for this journey in the middle of the night was a horse-like animal called Al-Burraq which was sent by Allah from Jannah (Paradise). After riding this celestial ride, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reached Masjid al-Aqsa from Masjid Al-Haram in just one second.

On reaching Masjid al-Aqsa, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) realized that all the prophets who came before him were already there. These prophets include Ibrahim (A.S), Isra (A.S), Musa (A.S) and all other prophets. Here, Muhammad (peace be upon him) offered the two rak’at prayers of all the prophets.

After that, two bowls were brought to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). One cup was filled with wine and the other with milk. He looked at them and chose milk. Jibrael (peace be upon him) said to him:

Praise be to Allah who guided you to Fitrah (purity and innocence). If you chose alcohol, your Ummah would have gone astray. (An-Nisa: 5657)

Eid Ul Adha 2025 | How To Celebrate In Pakistan

Eid Ul Adha date in Pakistan 2025

There are two different Eid’s (Celebration Festivals) in Islam. One is Eid-ul-Fitr, which is celebrated on the completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan; and the second is Eid ul Adha, the greater Eid, which follows the completion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, at the time of Qurbani (sacrifice)

Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W) said “It is a tradition that has come down to us from Ibrahim”. Eid al-Adha, which means “the feast of the sacrifice”, celebrates Ibrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah (S.W.T). Eid al-Adha is one of the most important holiday in Islam. It marks the end of Hajj, a pilgrimage to Makkah that all Muslims must make at least once in their lifetime if they are physically and financially able to do so. The holiday celebrates Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (A.S) as an act of obedience to Allah (S.W.T).

It is celebrated in the first 10 days of the Holy Month of Dhul Hijjah, last month of the Islamic year and has its own set of important rituals that are followed by Muslims all over the world. The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, with each month starting on a new moon. Eid al-Adha is an important holiday in Islam.

Eid al-Adha is a three day festival and is celebrated on 10th day of Dhul Hijjah in Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Pakistan and some other parts of the world. On this day all Muslims offer prayers at Masjid, Eid Gah, Grounds or any open and wide land. They pray to Allah for forgiveness for their sins over past 12 months as well as make dua (prayer) for themselves, friends and family members who are living in different parts of world with them.

When Is Eid Ul Adha in Pakistan 2025:

Eid al-Adha is the second most important religious holiday in Islam, and it falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. This year, Eid al-Adha falls on June 07, 2025 (Saturday) in Pakistan.

Eid al-Adha marks the end of the annual hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and is a time for Muslims to remember Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his own son for Allah. According to Islamic tradition, Allah spared Ibrahim’s son Ismail, and replaced him with a ram.

Eid al-Adha is an important holiday in Islam:

The festival of sacrifice begins with the historical event when Hazrat Ibrahim (as) was commanded by Allah Almighty in a dream to sacrifice his son Ismail in the way of Allah. In obedience to this command, while he was sacrificing his son Ismail, Allah Almighty sent the angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) with a ram. Gabriel told Ibrahim that his dream had come true and that Allah had instructed him to sacrifice a ram as a ransom for his son. This story is written the Holy Quran in Chapter No. 37.

On this great deed, Allah Almighty commanded the Muslim Ummah on the Day of Resurrection to offer sacrifices in the way of Allah in remembrance of this deed.

During Eid al-Adha, Muslims who can afford and who meets the requirements, it must perform an animal sacrifice as a reminder of this history; this practice is known as qurbani in Islam, which means “sacrifice.” While many families choose goats or sheeps, cows and camels are common among some communities because they have great significance in Islam—they represent purity and generosity according to Islamic tradition because they give milk without being asked for it first. In fact, one reason why Muslims do this ritual every year during Eid al-Adha has little if anything directly related with religion!
