Houthi missile attacks on Saudi airports, dozens of flights from Pakistan canceled
Dozens of flights from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia were cancelled following missile attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport and Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport.
According to aviation sources, the operation of Saudi Airlines flights is facing uncertainty; this crisis has led to the cancellation and delay of hundreds of flights. The cancelled flights include six from Karachi to Riyadh, 14 from Islamabad, 12 from Lahore, and two from Peshawar.
The closure of Riyadh Airport has been extended by another 24 hours. Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport will remain closed until late tonight (midnight).
The closure of Riyadh Airport severely disrupted flight operations at the airports in Jeddah, Medina, and Dammam as well. Due to the uncertainty, 34 flights scheduled to depart from various Pakistani airports to Riyadh today were cancelled.
It should be noted that attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on Saudi Arabia are ongoing; a Pakistani national was killed and 11 people were injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh.
Just two days ago, an attack at King Khalid Airport resulted in 13 deaths and 309 injuries. The fatalities included a Mufti from Bangladesh, as well as citizens of Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, the United States, and India.
