Public Holiday Has Been Declared On September 1

Independence Day holidays are likely in Pakistan from August 14 to 17

There are likely to be four holidays in Pakistan in the month of August, including Independence Day on August 14.

According to a notification from the Cabinet Division, there will be a public holiday in Pakistan on August 14 on the occasion of Pakistan Day, while Chehlum Imam Hussain will be celebrated on Friday, August 15.

Chehlum holiday is not included in the federal holidays, however, in the case of a local holiday at the provincial level, there will be a holiday in the relevant areas. Last year, a public holiday was declared on the occasion of Chehlum in Rawalpindi and Karachi.

In some areas, in the event of a Chehlum holiday, the holidays of Thursday, August 14, Friday, August 15, Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17 may be combined.

Authorities have ordered strict security arrangements to maintain law and order on the occasion of Independence Day and Chehlum.

Fees announced for issuing new Driving License in UAE 2025

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new fees related to the issuance of new driving license and learning permits.

According to Arab media, the fee for learning permits for motorcycles, light vehicles and light automatic vehicles has been set at 100 dirhams. The fee for light and heavy buses, mechanical machinery and heavy vehicles will be 200 dirhams.

The traffic department charges Dh200 for opening a file, Dh50 for a safe driving guide, and a minimum fee of Dh140 and a maximum of Dh180 for an eye test. In addition, each applicant must also pay a Dh20 innovation and knowledge fee.

UAE introduces new, easier way to obtain work permit 2025

For the issuance of a driving license, a fee of 100 dirhams will be charged from those under the age of 21, while a fee of 300 dirhams will be charged from those 21 years of age and older, including a 20 dirhams innovation fee.

The Roads Transport Authority says that if an applicant wants to change the category of their driving license from manual to automatic or from automatic to manual, they will have to pay an additional fee of 200 dirhams and 20 dirhams in innovation charges.

Petrol price reduced, diesel price increased in Pakistan

The Pakistani government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs7.54 per liter and increased the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.48 per liter for the next fortnight. 

The notification said that the revised prices of petroleum products will be effective from August 1. According to the new prices, the price of petrol will now be reduced from Rs 272.15 to Rs 264.61 per liter. The price of one liter of HSD will now be Rs 285.83 per liter, which is more than Rs 284.35 per liter.

Major reduction in petroleum product prices likely from August 1

Following a major drop in oil prices in the global market, the federal government is likely to significantly reduce the prices of petroleum product in the country from August 1, however, the final announcement will be made after the approval of the Prime Minister on July 31.

The prices of petroleum products are likely to decrease by up to Rs9.7 per liter as the ex-refinery price of petrol has decreased by Rs9.7 per liter and the ex-refinery price of diesel by Rs3.73 per liter.

Similarly, the price of petrol per barrel has decreased from $75.27 to $73.19. The premium per barrel on petroleum has decreased from $9.61 to $6.74. Customs duty has decreased from Rs15.33 to Rs14.29.

Sources say that the ex-refinery price of petrol has been reduced from Rs168.73 to Rs159.66. Petroleum prices may further decrease by including exchange rate adjustments.

Sources say that the final working paper on pricing will be sent to the Finance Ministry on July 31 and the Finance Ministry will take a decision keeping in mind the revenue targets.

It was further informed that a notification will be issued by the Finance Ministry after the approval of the Prime Minister, while despite increasing the levy on petroleum products, the public will not get any relief.
