In the past two years, the country has imported a staggering $3.6 billion worth of solar panels, according to the Pakistan Solar Association. The drop in solar panel prices was mainly due to the government’s decision to remove all taxes on solar imports in February this year.

The policy change led to a significant drop in solar panel price, from Rs. 135 per watt to Rs. 70 per watt. Despite the apparent depreciation of the dollar, many markets are still offering solar panels at low prices.
