9 November Holiday
The federal government of Pakistan has announced a public holiday on 9 November, Thursday, on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day. The notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said, “The Prime Minister wishes that 9th November be observed as a public holiday.”
When is 9 November Holiday was ended
It may be recalled that public holiday on Iqbal Day was suspended in 2015 during the previous regime of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN). Following the 2015 judgment, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC). In which it was said that November 9th should be celebrated as a public holiday in memory of the national poet.
Federal government’s decision to restore public holiday on Iqbal Day has also been appreciated by the citizens. He has said that the great poet should be celebrated with national devotion. Iqbal Day is the birthday of national poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
