Abu Dhabi Police has warned motorists against jumping red lights in the emirate, as violations will result in heavy fines and impounding of vehicles, as the violation comes with severe consequences.

Abu Dhabi Police cited Law No. 5 of 2020, which provides for impounding vehicles if drivers jump red lights.

According to the Abu Dhabi Police, Vehicle Impounding Law No. 5 of 2020 stipulates that a motorist who jumps a red light will be slapped with a fine of Dh1,000 and 12 traffic black points and his vehicle will be impounded for 30 will be impounded for the day.

To release the vehicle, the motorist will have to pay Dh50,000, he said, adding that his driving license will also be revoked for 6 months.
