From 1 July 2024, international students applying for a study visa in Australia will face a doubling of fees as the government has decided to raise them from $710 to $1,600.
The move is aimed at curbing displacement at an all-time high and has put pressure on the housing market. According to the data, 548,800 people got Australian visa last year. It will also affect international students, who make up the second largest group of international students in Australia.

Persons on visit visa will not be eligible to change their visa. The authorities have also decided to further tighten the rules for extending student visas.
International education is one of Australia’s largest export industries and was worth $36.4 billion to the economy in the 2022-2023 financial year.
