Canada announced the lifting of visa requirements for 13 countries

Canada has allowed citizens of 13 new countries to enter without a visa. These travelers will now only need an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), which can be obtained through a simple and quick online process.

The announcement was made by Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser. He said the decision aims to strengthen Canada’s international relations and make the travel process easier for travelers.

The 13 newly added countries are:

  1. Antigua and Barbuda
  2. Argentina
  3. Costa Rica
  4. Morocco
  5. Panama
  6. Philippines
  7. Saint Kitts and Nevis
  8. Saint Lucia
  9. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  10. Seychelles
  11. Thailand
  12. Trinidad and Tobago
  13. Uruguay

Citizens of these countries will be eligible for an eTA if they have obtained a Canadian visa within the last 10 years or have an active US non-immigrant visa. This facility is for air travel only and allows stays of up to six months for tourism or business purposes.

All you need is a passport, email address, internet access, and a credit card to apply. The fee is just 7 Canadian dollars (about 5 US dollars) and most approvals are granted within minutes.

Travelers from outside these countries, or those who wish to travel to Canada by land or sea, will still need a regular visitor visa.
