According to the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) on Sunday, the first super blue moon will be visible in Pakistan today on August 19, 2024 at 11:26 PM.
It’s worth noting that the upcoming moon tonight is a seasonal blue moon, as the event won’t be seen again until 2037. Super Bluemoon, an astronomical phenomenon where the Moon appears 14% larger and brighter due to its proximity to Earth.

Why is it called a Blue Moon?
The term “blue moon” does not refer to the moon actually changing color. It stems from a freak event in the 19th century when a volcanic eruption created unique atmospheric conditions, causing the full moon to turn blue. The phrase “once in a blue moon” indicates a rare occurrence.
According to NASA, the term refers to when the moon, either in its full or new lunar phase, is in sync with a close swing around the Earth. That is, when it is within 90 percent of its closest approach to Earth.
When is the next supermoon 2024?
The next three supermoons will occur on September 18, October 17 and November 15, 2024 respectively.
