According to the notification issued, there will be winter vacations from December 23 to January 6 in 24 districts of Punjab. 12 districts will have winter vacation from January 3 to January 13, 2024, the notification submitted in the Lahore High Court.

Holiday districts from December 23 to January 6 include Sargodha, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Gujarat, Pakpattan, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Okara, Wahari, Khanewal, Lahore, Khushab, Hafizabad, Multan, Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Mandi Bahauddin, Lodhran, Nikana Sahib and Jhang are included.

Weather Update: A Cold Wave Is Expected In Pakistan Next Week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said in the latest weather advisory that a cold wave is likely to hit Pakistan next week under the influence of fresh rain in some parts of the country and snowfall on the mountains.

A weather advisory issued by the Met Office said, “Westerly system is likely to enter upper parts on 13th October (evening/night) and spread over upper/central parts on 14th (night). ”

The PMD has forecast intermittent rain with thundershowers over the upper regions from the evening of October 13 to 17 including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Swabi, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan.

Moderate to isolated heavy falls are expected in Kashmir’s Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur, and Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar areas of Gilgit Baltistan, during the same period.

From October 13 to 17, areas including Islamabad, Potohar region, Murree, Galiyat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Khushab, Noorpurthal, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang and Kasur expected to witness similar weather conditions.

Snowfall is expected in the high mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and GB and hailstorm is also expected in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile in Sindh and Balochistan, areas of Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Sanghar and Umerkot, and Sherani, Musa Khel, Zhob, Qilla Saifullah, Loralai, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sibbi, Bolan, Kalat, Harnai, Naseerabad, Dera Bugti, Jaffarabad, Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Quetta and Ziarat will receive rain with wind and thunderstorm on October 17 and 18.

On behalf of caretaker Punjab government, half of the employees in all government institutions will come to work on Wednesday. While it has been decided to lock down on Saturday and Sunday in the style of Corona Lockdown and blockade the city and take action and heavy fines against the factories and factories working against the law. The notification is likely to be issued by night.

Under the new policy, government departments will function at 50% capacity on Wednesdays, sources said, adding that weekend snap-checking on Saturdays and Sundays has also been suggested. In a relief to the inflation-stressed public, Pakistan’s caretaker government on Saturday cut the price of Petrol and Diesel for the next fortnight, for the first time in two-and-a-half months.

The government has reduced the price of petrol by 8 rupees, while the price of diesel has been reduced by 11 rupees, after which the new price of fuel will be 318.18 rupees per litre. The new commodity prices have come into effect from midnight today.
