Another effort is to make it easier for people to get their driving license without having to go through a tedious process. Punjab has decided to start a paperless driving license system in the province with the latest initiative. Citizens can apply for their driving license using their CNIC.
People are reluctant to approach driving license centers due to complicated procedures and multiple centers do not cooperate to provide all facilities under one roof due to which agents charge extra money from applicants for obtaining driving license.
With the latest initiative, the cumbersome process of obtaining a driving license has become ‘paperless’ which does not allow third party involvement. Citizens allowed citizens with valid identity card, domicile to get driving license from the provincial capital.
In this regard, the top police official of Punjab directed the in-charges of all the centers to amend the driving test rules. To avoid haste, several counters were added at the centers and more officers were added.
24 Hours Driving License Service Has Been Started In Punjab
The old ‘file system’ that prevents people from coming to the center has been abolished, and no hard copy documents other than national identity cards and passports will need to be brought for international driving licenses.
The video recording of each driving test will be made part of the police record to make the entire procedure more streamlined and transparent.
