iPhone 14 Pro And Pro Max PTA Taxes Increased Again
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has once again increased the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max taxes again. This is actually surprising as the taxes on these phones have increased manifold in recent months. Due to this, the overall price of the phone has increased significantly. Of course, the iPhone is a luxury brand in the smartphone market, and in countries like Pakistan, you have to pay a hefty tax to use it with SIM coverage.
However, such a high price makes it a symbol of luxury and status. This is because only the rich section of the society can afford it, which creates a social divide in the society. Even if you can save enough money to buy an iPhone, you will still have to pay a hefty PTA tax. Here are the newly updated PTA taxes on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max PTA Tax In Pakistan
|Devices||PTA Taxes on Passport (PKR)||PTA Taxes on CNIC (PKR)|
|iPhone 14 Pro||158,630/-||187,143/-|
|iPhone 14 Pro Max||158,630/-||187,143/-|
Taxes were increased again for a period of only 25 days. In recent months, PTA taxes on imported mobile phones have increased dramatically. Depreciation of rupee and limited reserves of State Bank can be blamed for this increase in taxes. Thus, the current goal of the government is to curb imports to maintain economic stability.
This is a good step for retailers who import phones in bulk but we would not consider it appropriate for a common consumer who imports phones only for personal use.
