After the increase in electricity prices, even the consumers who use very limited electricity will have to pay bills of thousands of rupees.

NEPRA has fixed the basic electricity tariff at around Rs 30, but adding all the chargers and taxes will make the per unit cost of electricity much higher. With the basic tariff being Rs 29.78 per unit, after adding taxes and other charges, 1 Unit Of Electricity Price In Pakistan will cost more than Rs 50.
The bill for customers using 100 units will be Rs 1,800 without tax, the bill for customers with 200 units will be Rs 4,700 without tax, while the bill for customers using 300 units will be Rs 8,000 without tax.
While adding taxes and other charges will further increase the bills. It should be noted that according to Geo News, NEPRA has issued a notification to increase the basic rates of electricity. Basic electricity rates have been increased by Rs 4.96 paise per unit. After the hike in basic electricity rates, it will be Rs 29.78 paise per unit. The basic electricity tariff has been fixed for the year 2023-24.
Earlier, the basic electricity tariff was 24 rupees 82 paise. The reason behind the increase in the basic electricity rates is the depreciation of the rupee. Decline in electricity sales and capacity payments are also reasons for the increase in basic tariff. The estimated income of electricity distribution companies is 3281 billion rupees. NEPRA has sent its decision regarding the hike in basic electricity rates to the federal government.
