Government introduced the mobile phone installment plan policy
The caretaker Government has introduced the mobile phone installment plan policy for Pakistani people. Federal Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr. Umar Saif made the policy which will be applicable from January 15, 2024.
He said that people traveling abroad can now get the latest smartphone models through installments. Dr. Saif said that this policy has been prepared after extensive consultation with the stakeholders of the telecom industry. The primary objective is to promote responsible financial behavior and facilitate continued growth in smartphone penetration.

In an effort to protect investors from defaults, measures such as blocking mobile phones and possibly a national identity card for defaulters will be introduced. Emphasized the importance of establishing a robust mechanism to ensure the protection of investors and the success of the policy.
The telecom landscape is all set to witness a paradigm shift. Because the policy allows companies to offer smartphones directly to consumers through flexible installment plans. This initiative is particularly beneficial for the economically backward sections of the society which will pave the way for increasing the use of mobile broadband.
