Utility Store In Jail
Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited Kot Lakhpat Jail. He inaugurated a utility store in jail for the first time in history to provide real relief to the inmates.
The establishment of the utility store has brought an end to the decades-old exploitative system of prison canteens. Prisoners will be able to buy quality items at cheaper prices from the utility store, while prison employees will also be able to shop from the utility store.
Earlier, an agreement was reached between the Punjab government and the Utility Stores Corporation in Kot Lakhpat Jail for the establishment of utility stores in the jails today. The agreement was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Kot Lakhpat Jail. Inspector General Prisons Farooq Nazir and GM Operations Utility Stores Corporation Sardar Mohammad Khan signed the agreement.
Under the agreement, Utility Stores Corporation will set up utility stores in Punjab jails. Under the phased program, utility stores will be established in all the jails of Punjab and quality items will be available to the prisoners at cheap prices. Prisoners have been permanently relieved of charging arbitrary prison canteen prices.
Later Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the utility store established in Kot Lakhpat Jail and visited the utility store.
Government Reduced Ghee And Cooking Oil Prices
The chief minister inspected the goods provided to the prisoners in the utility store and ordered to shift the utility store to a suitable place within the jail premises. So that all the inmates can benefit from the facility of utility store and buy the goods according to their needs. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that utility stores will be established in all the jails of Punjab.
Prisoners will be able to buy the quality items they need at a reasonable price. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed to establish utility stores in other jails of Punjab within 30 days. He said that bakeries will also be opened in jails and prisoners will be able to buy bakery items at reasonable rates.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi also met the relatives and friends who came to meet the prisoners and asked the relatives of the prisoners about their problems and gave orders to solve them on the spot.
