Chak No. 45 چک نمبر
History:
The Government of British India launched a program in early years of 19th century to bring the forest like land which is currently in District Malakwal into agricultural use. For this reason the launched a scheme called ‘Gori Pal scheme’ to give a package of 56 acres of land to each farmers selected from different regions of Punjab. Around 1914, many tribes from different villages who were already farmers there but did not had much land, got benefited from this scheme and got land in form of ‘Ghoris’ (named on female horse).
The farmers came to this village in decade of 1914th and removed the forest and started cultivating the land. The land proved to be very fertile which was very much appreciated by the new farmers. The main tribes came from different villages like ‘Bharoki Cheema’ near Wazirabad, Saroki Cheema, Jaamke Cheema, Sahi ke, etc. Because the casts of those farmers originally was Cheema, that’s why Cheema is the dominant cast of the village.
