Petrol and Diesel Prices In Pakistan

In a relief to the inflation-stressed public, Pakistan’s caretaker government on Saturday cut the price of Petrol and Diesel for the next fortnight, for the first time in two-and-a-half months.

The government has reduced the price of petrol by 8 rupees, while the price of diesel has been reduced by 11 rupees, after which the new price of fuel will be 318.18 rupees per litre. The new commodity prices have come into effect from midnight today.

The government has also reduced the price of kerosene by Rs 7.53 per liter to Rs 237.28 and the price of light diesel oil by Rs 7.77 to Rs 212.45 per litre. Commodity prices were last seen falling in mid-July when petrol fell by Rs 9 to Rs 253 and diesel by Rs 7 to Rs 253.50 per litre.

The Meteorological Department on Wednesday said that the last spell of monsoon rain is likely to reach the upper parts of the country from today (Thursday).

A weather advisory issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that a westerly rain-producing wave is likely to enter the upper regions on the evening or night of Thursday, September 28.

Under the system, moderate to heavy falls with wind and thunderstorm is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, areas of Kashmir including Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur, and areas of Gilgit Baltistan including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar from September 28 to 30.

Isolated spells of rain and thunderstorm with hailstorm is also expected between September 28 and 29 in Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Haripur, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur and Sheikhupura

Meanwhile, Zhob, Barkhan, Leh, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar are also likely to experience similar weather conditions during the said period.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of snowfall on the high mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Among the possible impacts, the Meteorological Department has also predicted a significant drop in temperature in the spell-affected areas.

The PMD advised farmers and tourists to manage their crop activities and be cautious during this period respectively to avoid any untoward situation. Meanwhile, the general public has been advised to stay in safe places during wind storms, lightning strikes and rains as loose structures such as electric poles, solar panels, billboards etc. may be damaged by dust.
