WAPDA has issued Mandi Bahauddin load shedding schedule for the month of October 2023 after September. Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) issued a new notification today.

Mandi Bahauddin: GEPCO has released light schedule for October 2023 in Mandi Bahauddin. The purpose of shutting down the power supply is said to be necessary repairs, load shifting, work of new high voltage cables.

According to the notification issued, the electricity of the Railway Station Chillianwala feeder of 132 KV Helan grid station will be shut down on October 9 and 16, 2023 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. The reason for the power outage is the load shifting of the Chillianwala feeder.

Similarly, the electricity of Dhal and Main Bazar feeders of 132 KV Phalia grid station will be shut down on 16, 23 and 30 October 2023 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. The reason for the power outage is load shifting of the Dhal feeder.

132 KV Kuthiala Sheikhan Grid Station of College road feeder power will be shut down on 16, 23 and 30 October 2023 from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The reason for the power outage is load shifting of Dhal feeders.

Malakwal Feeder of 132 KV New Malakwal Grid Station will be shut down on 16, 23 and 30 October 2023 from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The reason for the power outage is load shifting of Dhall feeders.

Similarly, the electricity of Complex Feeder, Crystal Feeder, City Feeder and Wasu Feeder of 132 KV Mandi Bahauddin Grid Station will be shut down on 4, 11, 18 and 25 October 2023 from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. While the electricity of Gurrah Feeder, Phalia Road Feeder, Sufi City Feeder, Jhulana Feeder, Gulshan Iqbal Feeder and Canal Feedar will remain closed on 5, 12, 19, 26 and 31 October 2023 from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

The last spell of monsoon will enter the country from Thursday

The Meteorological Department on Wednesday said that the last spell of monsoon rain is likely to reach the upper parts of the country from today (Thursday).

A weather advisory issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that a westerly rain-producing wave is likely to enter the upper regions on the evening or night of Thursday, September 28.

Under the system, moderate to heavy falls with wind and thunderstorm is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, areas of Kashmir including Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur, and areas of Gilgit Baltistan including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar from September 28 to 30.

Isolated spells of rain and thunderstorm with hailstorm is also expected between September 28 and 29 in Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Haripur, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur and Sheikhupura

Meanwhile, Zhob, Barkhan, Leh, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar are also likely to experience similar weather conditions during the said period.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of snowfall on the high mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Among the possible impacts, the Meteorological Department has also predicted a significant drop in temperature in the spell-affected areas.

The PMD advised farmers and tourists to manage their crop activities and be cautious during this period respectively to avoid any untoward situation. Meanwhile, the general public has been advised to stay in safe places during wind storms, lightning strikes and rains as loose structures such as electric poles, solar panels, billboards etc. may be damaged by dust.

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has decided to increase the challan for traffic violations by up to 200%. The order will be applicable from October 1, 2023. At present awareness campaign is being conducted on various platforms including social media.

The decision to revise the penalty rates has been taken during the NHMP meeting. As authorities discuss options to reduce traffic violations on the roads. A statement from the NHMP has mentioned the new traffic challan rules and rates.

  • The police have added seven new rules to the traffic rules across the country.
  • The fine for over speeding has been increased to Rs. 2500 from the previous Rs. 750.
  • The new fine for wrongful overtaking will be Rs. 1500 instead of the previous Rs. 300.
  • Vehicles with broken and non-functioning headlights will be fined Rs. 5000 as against the old challan of Rs. 500.
  • The revised rate of challan for rash and negligent driving is Rs. 1500 instead of Rs. 300.
  • Driving without a license will attract a fine of Rs 5000, which was earlier Rs. 750.
  • Fancy number plates will be fined Rs. 1000 and HID lights will be fined Rs. 2000.
  • A driver without registration will have to pay a fine of Rs. 2000 against Rs. 500 earlier.

The caretaker government of Pakistan has decided to increase the prices of petroleum products from September 16, 2023. It has been decided to increase the price of petrol in Pakistan by 26 rupees 2 paise per liter. Diesel price increased by 17 rupees 34 paise per liter, notification issued.

The government has already increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by around Rs 33 on September 1, 2023. International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan conditions forced the government to pass on the burden of rising commodity prices to the public.

The price increase is based on current tax rates and import parity prices, mainly due to currency fluctuations and marginal increase in international oil prices.

It should be noted that the government is charging a levy of Rs 2 per liter on petroleum. Rs 55 per liter on petrol and Rs 50 per liter on high speed diesel. A possible increase in their prices may affect inflation in October.
